Robert L. Samuel, Jr.

Overview

Bob Samuel is a firm shareholder who oversees all workers' compensation cases. He focuses his practice in the areas of personal injury and litigation.

Bob has handled more than 125 jury trials since he began representing clients in 1979, and has earned an outstanding reputation from his clients and peers. He routinely advises municipalities and businesses assessing the merits of workers’ compensation and injury cases and the risks of defense. His practice focuses on complex personal injury matters on behalf of defendents and representation of inidivudals injured as a result of the negligence of others.  Bob regularly appears before the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission and Circuit Courts in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Frequently asked to lead continuing legal education seminars and speak on the topics of workers’ compensation and personal injury law, Bob also serves as a consultant for municipalities and third party administrators in workers’ compensation cases.

Represented municipality in $20 million litigation where the plaintiff suffered catastrophic injuries, alleged negligence and punitive damages arising out of a motor vehicle accident with a police officer.

Represented deputy sheriff in $625,000 personal injury case after he suffered severe injuries in a motor vehicle accident when responding to an emergency call with lights and sirens.

Represented development company and its president in $5 million litigation with former employer alleging breach of fiduciary duty in the purchase and development of land project.

Represented municipality in an occupational disease workers’ compensation claim where the claimant alleged the need for a heart transplant arose from heart disease caused by his employment with the municipality.

Represented local transit company in million-dollar litigation brought by a passenger alleging post-traumatic stress disorder and permanent back impairment to his back due to injury on the transit bus.
